About the position We have an available position as a doctoral research fellow (SKO 1017) at the University of Oslo, 3-years engagement, affiliated with the Centre for Precision Psychiatry, Institute of Clinical Medicine, University of Oslo and the Department of Medical Genetics, Oslo University Hospital. The Centre runs a series of multidisciplinary studies involving hospital departments and several research groups at the University of Oslo, building on advanced statistical methods for analysis of large-scale human genetic, proteomic, metabolomic, and neuroimaging data. The Centre has access to large databases of biomarkers, clinical and cognitive variables, genotyping and sequencing data, and MRI brain imaging data. In addition, we actively collaborate with large international consortia, particularly the Psychiatric Genomics Consortium (PGC), ENIGMA, and the European Alzheimer’s Disease DNA BioBank (EADB) and have access to data from Norwegian population cohorts (e.g., DemGene, HUNT, HUSK, the Tromsø Study, MoBa), as well as the UK Biobank, Estonian Biobank and ADNI. For more information, please visit: https://www.ous-research.no/djurovic/ Project description The available position is part of the Back2Future project, entitled Multimodal metabolic markers for mechanisms and predictive trajectories of Alzheimer’s disease, funded by the Research Council of Norway's TOPPFORSK programme and led by Professor Srdjan Djurovic. The project aims to identify heritable, early metabolic and protein biomarkers in blood that can predict the risk of Alzheimer's disease decades before symptoms appear, by combining metabolomics and proteomics with genetics, brain MRI, cognition and health registry data from large Norwegian and Nordic cohorts. To achieve this goal, the researcher hired for this doctoral research fellowship position will work with the project's datasets, analytical methodology, and computational tools, including state-of-the-art data storage and research infrastructure hosted at the Services for Sensitive Data (TSD). The PhD fellow will work with large-scale analytical tools to integrate multi-omics with brain imaging data to identify early biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease risk and contribute to development of a personalized prediction algorithm. The duration of appointment is 3 years and is available from January 2027, with possibility of a flexible start date. Main responsibilities Develop a research plan within the scope of this project for a PhD...
